Neck Pain

Fed up of regular neck pain?

Most of us will experience an episode of neck pain in our lifetime. Some of the time it will resolve itself, other times repeated episodes can interfere with your daily life. Many people find other symptoms, such as arm pain or headaches accompany their neck pain.

There are many different types of neck pain, with different causes. Your own medical history, the exact location of the pain and how it started are all considered in what may be causing this pain.

Why is neck pain so common?

To understand more about your neck and why it is vulnerable to tension, injury and stress lets learn a little about its structure. Your neck has seven bones (vertebra) stacked on top of each other. The vertebra have discs in between them and are bound by ligaments. Your neck muscles move your neck as well as maintain your posture.

Your neck supports the weight of your head, which on average weighs 4-5 kgs! It is also a very mobile part of the body. This combination of factors is a big part of the reason neck issues are common.

Poor posture or tension in the neck or shoulders can often be the cause of a neck complaint. Students may complain of neck aches and pains after a long day studying. Poor sleeping patterns or prolonged sedentary work with poor posture can cause tension to build in the neck.

What kind of neck pain do I have?

It is important that you observe when your pain is at its worst, where you feel it the most and what activities make it worse or better. Each person is unique and their concern is too. The more detail you give the health professional that is supporting you the easier it will be for them to reach a diagnosis. Does stress make your pain worse? Maybe you have noticed you can not turn your head to one side fully. Do you feel your neck pain in one or both sides of the neck. Pain can also spread to the base of the skull and into the shoulders.

Treasa treated me for a while and I have to say that this is the best experience I never had to take care of my neck and back. Also she was focus in my balance inside and outside my body […] In fact I was trekking the Annapurna after that and my body responded without pain.
Thank you very much!!! Amazing professional and human being.

The type of pain can be different from person to person. Is it a sharp or dull pain? Is it constant or just at certain times of the day? Sometimes your pain can spread as far as the arm and hand, even as far as the fingers. The answers to these questions give me a deeper understanding of how your concern is impacting your day to day activities and help me access your issue in a more complete manner.
